professional photography studio for senior pictures, professional headshots, high school sports, and passport photos

High School Seniors

High School Senior portraits don't have to be boring…today's high school seniors expect dramatic portraits that fully express their personality. Whether you're a rock star…a fashionista…an athlete…or poet…every student is unique, and the images from your session will reflect that.

Portraits

Whether it's a young adult's coming of age, a loving couple's engagement, a personal statement, or an important moment in your family's history, portraits play an important part in developing memories and a legacy.  "This  is who I am, and this is what is important to me."

Commercial

As a business, you need your customers to want to buy your product or service. As a society, we are bombarded by a visual feast of advertising, most of which is forgotten or ignored. You need to make your business and your products stand out with creative images that will get noticed every time.

A good photographer should be able to put you at ease and capture the “real” you.
At Luke Photography, we have one photographer.
One photographer that is serious about creating great portraits.
Good photographers get out of their own way and let great portraits happen.
No canned poses, no preconceived ideas of what you should look like.

But don't take it from me, this is what a business client from Detroit, MI had to say,

I don't know how to tell you how much we all enjoyed working with you, and how exceptionally talented we all think you are, both in terms of your "bedside manner" and the resulting shots.  You are professional, friendly, helpful, and a genius at knowing just how to get the best shot while making us feel comfortable. You are very clearly in the right field!!   Thank you so much!!

The Difference

If you only know one way to do things, then you are limited to one look

The Difference

If you only know one way to do things, then you are limited to one look

With over 30 years of experience, I specialize in the portrait and commercial/industrial market, where I can more readily apply my understanding of lighting to create unique and visually pleasing images, which really tell the story of the person that I'm photographing, or show the product or facility in new and interesting light.  Whether the subject is a high school senior, a CEO, or a new technological product, let's make it noteworthy.

Many photographers who are new to the industry don't truly understand lighting, and prefer to photograph by natural light only. If that's all you know, then you are limited to only that kind of "look".  When a photographer understands lighting, it allows them to design and engineer well thought-out images, but also allows them to think quickly on their feet when situations change, instead of fumbling for a solution.

Your experience at Luke Photography goes way beyond the awesome photos...

Patrick Luke, Photog. Cr., CPP

Owner and Photographer

Have you ever had your picture taken and wished instead you were sitting in a dentist's chair?
Yeah, me too.
That's why, at Luke Photography, I like to bring a little "personal creative mayhem" to each session, whenever it calls for it.

Although I take my work very seriously, I am known for a good sense of humor, and not taking myself too seriously.

Luke Photography is located in a 100-yr. old building in the Village of Fairport that used to be vinegar warehouse for the French's mustard company.  The 2,000 s.f. studio just underwent an expansion in the summer of 2014 with the addition of 700 s.f. of daylight warehouse-style shooting space, which will allow more creative freedom during sessions.

I started my photography business over 29 years ago by shooting weddings, although now I concentrate on portraits and commercial/industrial work.  In 2010 I earned the Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) certification through the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), which less than 3% of professional photographers have attained.  It not only assures others of a photographer's knowledge, but also the continuance to develop new skills and techniques.

The Christmas party at any sole proprietor's business can be boring, unless it's at Luke Photography...where we include everyone, including (L to R): Production Mgr., Photographer, Facility Mgr., Owner, Business Mgr. and Marketing Mgr.

I earned the Photographic Craftsman degree (Photog. Cr.) in 2012 through the PPA.  This degree is attained through service as a mentor, author or speaker. This degree shows that you have gone beyond the creation of images and dedicated your time to teach other photographers and move the industry forward and encourage education.

I speak at conventions and photography organizations on lighting and portrait techniques, and I also teach professional photographers cost-effective ways to improve the quality of their photography by better understanding their existing equipment and creatively using alternative equipment to get comparable, if not better, results.

Going to great lengths...and heights...to get a group photo of a church congregation. Don't worry, it was safer than it looks.

I am a Past President of the Professional Photographers Society of NY State (PPSNYS) and also a 2-time Past President of the Greater Rochester Professional Photographers (GRPP), and am still on the Executive Board.

This is a short video that I made for the Photo Northeast Convention that was used for promotional reasons. It describes the first time that I felt like my photography made a difference to someone.
